Types of Seltzer and Production Methods:
- Non-Alcoholic Seltzer: Simply carbonated water, often flavored naturally or artificially. NA Seltzer is made by infusing carbon dioxide gas (CO2) into water under pressure.
No fermentation or brewing involved. - Hard Seltzer: (aka Alcoholic sparkling water). The alcohol is usually produced by fermenting a sugar source (like cane sugar, malted barley, or cane sugar + yeast) in a fermentation tank — this is a brewing-like process.After fermentation, the liquid is filtered, carbonated, and flavored to produce the final hard seltzer. The process involves fermentation, somewhat similar to brewing.
